Devotional : Access to God

Image
Through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of his creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:11-12 The wonder of the Bible’s story is that God—seeing us in our inability to know Him, to love Him, to understand Him, and to serve Him—came to redeem and restore us. God secured our redemption through a series of mighty acts, culminating in the Lord Jesus Christ, whom He sent in order to bring us back into relationship with Himself. In bridging the chasm between God and us, Jesus fulfills His role as our Great High Priest. Continue Reading click here

Devotional : A Solid Conviction

Image
We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 The way we respond to life’s circumstances reveals a lot about us. Some look at life and think, “I’m stuck in a dead-end job. I eat the same lunch almost every day. My relationships usually bring me down more than they build me up. And I’m supposed to believe this is good—that this is the gift of God? I don’t see it.” Click here to continue reading

Devotional : Recipients of God’s Grace

Image
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 John Newton, the man who wrote the hymn “Amazing Grace,” never lost sight of how amazing grace truly is. A former slave trader, Newton never forgot the way sin had reigned in his life before he came to Christ, and he was aware of the sin that remained in his life after his conversion. This is why, toward the end of his life, he said, “I remember two things: that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour.” [1] Continue reading click here

Current Affairs : Hamas vs. The Canaanites: Same Kind of Evil? | with Dr. Paul Copan

Image
How can you negotiate with people who are intent on your destruction and are even willing to commit demonic acts to do so? The world watched in horror as the terrorist organization, Hamas, carried out the brutal attacks against innocent and defenseless Israeli citizens this past weekend, mercilessly slaughtering entire families, raping women, and dismembering young infants and children. Can these heinous crimes that we’ve witnessed offer any insight as to why God ordered the “utter destruction” of the enemies of Old Testament Israel? In light of the recent terror attacks in Israel,  Dr. Paul Copan  sits down with Frank to reflect on this centuries old conflict and how it relates to some of the events that took place in the Old Testament. Paul will also talk more about his latest book, ‘ Is God a Vindictive Bully: Reconciling Portrayals of God in the Old and New Testaments ,’ which was written to hel...

Devotional : Confidence Through Suffering

Image
Recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. Hebrews 10:32-35 Here is a word of encouragement for those who grieve and for those who seek to comfort them. Perhaps you or someone you know has faced personal tragedy recently. Perhaps you’ve lost a loved one, and the pain of the loss is so great, so overwhelming, that you’re ready to quit. Perhaps you’re feeling helpless and burdened as you watch your brother or sister in Christ walk the painful road of suffering. Continue reading click here

Biblical Study : The Real Reason Why Moses Couldn’t Enter the Promised Land

Image
Recently, while reading a highly regarded commentary on the Book of Numbers, I realized a fairly common preaching “trope” I have heard for years from the pulpit was indeed quite erroneous. That trope, or “commonly repeated conventional view,” has to do with the reason God prevented Moses from entering into the promise land. It is an exegetical point that may not seem all that important. After all, we realize that Moses, like everyone, was a sinner. Culture : WHO OWNS OUR CHILDREN?

Image
Utopian idealists tend to believe that the State owns them. Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, and Mao had also believed this but proved to be  poor parental substitutes. Consequently, they are now all gone and their misguided experiments in State sovereignty over our children. Some collapses haven’t been violent and abrupt. Some utopian communities have merely found their idealism unworkable, and, therefore,... Continue reading click here

Devotional : Kingdom-Shaped Prayers

Image
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 We have no good apart from God. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights,” James tells us (James 1:17). Similarly, Paul asks, “What do you have that you did not receive?” (1 Corinthians 4:7). The resounding response, of course, is nothing whatsoever. All that we have, we have from God. Devotional : He Knows

Image
Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. 1 Samuel 2:3 Contemporary society is full of examples of what it looks like to celebrate self-assertiveness, human achievement, and a preoccupation with the “I/me/my” focus of our age that pays scant, if any, attention to God. He does not see , is the assumption; and if He does see, He does not mind. As believers we are not immune from any of this, for by nature our hearts love to assume that we ourselves are the fount of all knowledge—that we know best how we should think. Devotional : Fuel for Cheerful Giving

Image
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver … You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, 2 Corinthians 9:11 God loves a cheerful giver. One reason for this is that He is a cheerful giver, gladly and generously giving Himself and every good gift to His people. And one of the good gifts that God has given us is a series of promises and proverbs to fuel our cheer as we give. 2 Corinthians 9 provides an abundance of such fuel. Continue Reading Click Here
